Christen Mattix
Christen Mattix's work is about the complexity of relating to self and other--the hurt, the beauty and the entanglements. Using familiar materials in unfamiliar ways, she creates impossible, charged objects such as a bone cozy or a ladder made of thorns. She is fascinated by "tactile vision" in which visual art stimulates the tactile sense, thereby eliciting a sensual, even spiritual reaction in the viewer
