Arts in Education

Picture
In April of 2012, the JJWF began its Arts in Education program that will promote arts education in the community for area Pre-K programs, and elementary schools.   Our goals for this program include building awareness of the history of James Washington's work as an artist, his work in social justice, educating the public about our multicultural artists,  as well as teaching art skills to youth in the community.

As a part of our outreach efforts, we offer a free school presentation that includes a short arts and craft lesson. This class is available during the school day or after school. Our program is distinctive in that it provides virtual tours of the art of the Washington Studio and our Artist-in-Residence program, which in turn, will expand the children’s knowledge and appreciation of local artists and the work that they produce.
